Anthony Bourdain is both a celebrity chef and a writer but for his television show, he goes about a whole different task. The show (No Reservations) features himself (Anthony Bourdain) traveling all across the world in hunt for interesting experience with different fine cuisines. Along the trip, he looks for various countries with amazing foods and drinks. One in particular would probably stick out and it does relate to drinking absinthe.
Paris
The show No Reservations was aired in 60 minute episodes in 2005 and was formatted as a documentary. One of the episodes includes absinthe in it. As he is on the hunt for interesting and intriguing foods and drinks, when he stumbled across Paris (France) he found something very interesting. The green fairy (absinthe) was introduced to him while airing the episode in France. The mysterious and mystical world that you are sent to when drinking absinthe is something that Anthony Bourdain would soon experience. The whole episode includes absinthe in various scenes and it portrays the green fairy perfectly.
While this TV series was not very popular and was only on for one season, the show is specifically for fine cuisine and for a chef to find that absinthe could fit at such a high standard means that absinthe isn’t just loved for the buzz. Some people enjoy absinthe for the taste as well. This is just another attempt at a hit TV show which failed but it still displays absinthe and how useful it can be. This would be one of the more serious displays of the green fairy compared to a lot of other TV shows where they would just over exaggerate on the side effects that drinking absinthe has. |
