Aleister Crowley was a man who has made way to various fields. He was a bit of a daredevil based on the different things that he did in his life. At a certain time in his life he was an astrologer but a lot of the time he would experiment with various things like sex, magic, and drugs. A book that he wrote was entitled ‘The Book of Law’ which was rather interesting. He created his own type of religious philosophy and it later on triggered the Hubbard’s Scientology. His philosophy was basically to live your life in the way that your spirit within you tells you to and follow the road of your gut feeling and stick to the truth no matter how difficult things may be in the future. Between all of his beliefs and experiments, absinthe was a part of his life as well.
One of his Many Loves
Aleister Crowley loved many things in his life and in the list included some substances. Absinthe was one of those things which Aleister Crowley loved. Aleister Crowley was a drug user – in particular, a heroin addict. He ended up dying while living with the addiction in 1947. Alongside with his heroin addiction, absinthe was also something he regularly consumed.
While Aleister Crowley was never that real well known, some famous people made references to him in the past. His name was used in various books written by Ernest Hemingway and the book (which turned into a movie with Johnny Depp later on) From Hell included him playing the role of a schoolboy. It’s rather funny that he was a character in From Hell because of the fact that the main character (Johnny Depp) would drink quite a bit of absinthe every day in the movie. |
