Every day in most people’s lives in Switzerland, France, and most of Europe including drinking absinthe. Having a glass of absinthe became part of everyone’s daily routine in the late 19th century to the early 20th century. When people would wake up in the morning, they would have a drink of absinth as if it was a glass of milk at the breakfast table.
The Green Hour
Later in the day, there was a specific time of day which was dedicated to drinking absinthe. This was especially common in France where it underwent with the name “l’ heure verte” and would occur every day from 5-7PM. During this time, everyone at the bars and cafes would be enjoying a glass of green fairy absinthe and quite a few people used absinthe to wash down their supper as well.
Imagination
This may also have been the time of day (the green hour) when artists, musicians, and writers would work. Anyone who needs an imaginative mind would find that drinking absinthe can assist their creativity because it gives you a cleared head feeling. This was perfect when it comes to thinking stuff up and worked just great for various famous artists and novelists. Many famous names were known for being inspired and influenced by absynthe.
A typically day in the lives of those a century ago would usually involve consuming absinth green fairy. It would be a regular occurrence if someone consumed a few glasses of absinthe every single day. Absinthe was just like any other liquid but it had alcohol content and made you feel great. |
