Ernest Hemingway is one of many major names that enjoyed drinking absinthe on a regular basis. It was something which he did in his everyday life and became part of his routine. Whether he was addicted to it or not, a lot of people didn’t consider it to be an addiction but rather part of your day like coffee is now. He was a man who loved two main things in his world. He loves weapons and absinthe. This was also display in one of his novels – For Whom the Bell Tolls. This particular novel had a certain section which mentioned getting high from drinking absinthe and doing ‘knife tricks’ afterwards. In the novel, it also includes one of the main characters (Robert Jordan) resorting to drinking absinthe as he is at war with guerillas.

After absinthe was banned in many countries, it did not stop Ernest Hemingway from drinking the green fairy. It was most likely that Ernest Hemingway got his bottles of absinthe from Spain or Cuba but it could have been in other areas like from the bootleggers.
Absinthe was part of his everyday life. A lot of people drink absinthe every single day even now after the lengthy ban that was placed in many countries. After almost a century, it is really shocking how popular the green fairy still is. To this date, people talk about it like a folktale of how it can make you crazy and a lot of people drink it regularly for the unmatchable buzz that it gives you.
