Back in the late 18th century, the formula for absinthe was figured out. A French doctor in Switzerland figured out the recipe. About five years later he sold it off to a businessman who started producing the alcoholic beverage. Many people would very well claim the origins of absinthe to sit in Switzerland.
Absinthe got most popular at the turn of the 19th to 20th century where everyone started enjoying it. Absinthe was mainly being mass produced in France so some people claim that the origin of absinthe was France. The original place that absinthe was made was Switzerland but the place which homed to it once the drink was at a popularity climax was France.
By this time, many musicians, artists, and writers were enjoying the alcoholic drink. Ernest Hemingway and Vincent Van Gogh are just two big names that regularly enjoyed a drink of absinthe.
To this date, there are still many people that enjoy absinthe. Ever since the origins of absinthe, there has been a wide fan base for the drink and it could very well be one of the longest lasting and successful alcoholic drinks ever.
