Absinthe was the key to fuel the romantic duo of Arthur Rimbaud and his role model and lover Paul Verlaine (a poet) as it would bring them a lot closer. Arthur Rimbaud moved to Paris at the age of 16 and was a poetic genius and the talented Paul Verlaine was aspiring to him. When he arrived, he just had his words and not much else. His wallet was rather empty and this may have been the reason why he chose to give up on poetry when he started to age. He moved on to a more risky lifestyle – gun running. However, it may have been Paul Verlaine which popped the idea into Arthur Rimbaud’s head to start getting into that business instead. Either way, the two connected from the start all with a bottle of absinthe.
Chemistry
Some people may have that special chemistry between each other where they both love each other in some way. Others may find it after a while though. A lot of people have consumed absinthe together and ended up falling in love. It may seem silly but absinthe seems to bring out something in people that nothing else can. It can usually cause people to see eye to eye better. However, absinthe has been known for ruining friendships as well. All of this could be the same with any alcoholic beverage though.
With Arthur Rimbaud, he had a relationship with Paul Verlaine and it heightened because he consumed absinthe with him. It may have been the absinthe that led him to start gun running but it could have been other things like how he had to live in poverty or maybe he was convinced to do it by Paul Verlaine. No one will ever know but it is true that the pair shared absinthe together and had a strong bond with each other. |
