Coronation Street is probably one of the most popular soap operas in the United Kingdom. It would make sense because Coronation Street is the soap opera which has been on the longest in the United Kingdom as it started in the sixties – unbelievable! However, another popular show is Emmerdale Farm which is a strong competitor to Coronation Street as it started in the seventies. There was something which occurred on both shows that was rather weird but intriguing and it related to absinthe.
Matching Scenes
There were a few matching scenes in these two soap operas. Within two weeks, they both incorporated absinthe in their show. One week Betty Williams (on Coronation Street) would consume absinthe for relief and release and the next Diane Sugden (on Emmerdale Farm) did the exact same thing. It’s really unbelievable how coincidental it is that both shows happened to include some of the main characters consume absinthe so close in time without being related.
These two soap operas amazingly displayed how absinthe can be used as an answer to stress and how it can release your emotions and be the perfect stress relief when needed. Absinthe may not have played a long part of these two shows but both of these characters (Betty Williams and Diane Sugden) had been facing stressful situations leading up to the consumption of the absinthe. The green fairy worked perfectly in order to release their stress and it was surprising that the characters didn’t continue consuming it in the following weeks. |
