Vintage absinthe is the term which is often referred to as absinthe which was created before the ban of absinthe started. Pre-ban aged old absinthe is becoming a rarity and is harder to find now. Pre-ban absinthe would need to have been created before the year 1915 to hold that name. The Pernod Fils brand in particular is very popular. Just a single bottle of Pernod Fils absinthe which was made pre-ban can yield you thousands of dollars.
Post-Ban Absinthe
Pernod Fils is one of the main companies which have been running for a long time. In Tarragona, a plant was created to manufacture absinthe in the year 1918. The absinthe which was made in Tarragona is classified as post-ban (but still vintage) absinth. Bottles of absinthe from post-ban which were made in Tarragona can also fetch thousands of dollars as well.
Proceed With Caution
If you decide to invest some of your money in to some vine vintage aged absinthe, you have to be very careful. If you are buying the vintage absinthe from the Internet, there may be some people trying to rip you off. Some people may pretend that they are selling pre-ban or post-ban bottles of absinthe but once they receive the payment they will never send it. Others may be selling vintage absinthe but it’s just newer absinthe in a fake (or even the original bottle but new absinthe) absinth bottle. This has become common and is a real problem for those looking to purchase vintage absinthe so you have to proceed with caution. |
